Vince Fazio captures the beauty of Red Rock Country with his oil-on-canvas paintings. His work demonstrates the powerful impact of properly balanced aesthetics. “My larger scale landscape work often begins as an abstract gestural painting where I adjust the major shapes until I feel the composition is both dramatic and solid,” says Vince. “Numerous layers of paint application follow using large and small brushes as well as various palette knives. I enjoy the process of stepping back and forth between working detailed areas with enigmatic mark making and adjusting the broader aspects of the painting by attending to edges and values.”

Vince began his art career right after high school when he spent a year studying at an arts academy in Bergamo, Italy. When he returned to the states, he attended numerous art programs at the National Academy of Design and the Arts Student League of New York. He earned his bachelor’s degree with a concentration in painting from Colorado State University at Fort Collins. He went on to earn his master’s degree in fine arts from University of Kansas in Lawrence.

Currently the director of programming and operations at Sedona Arts Center, Vince directs SAC’s School of the Arts, the Sedona Plein Air Festival and the SAC gallery. Vince received an award of merit from renowned landscape painter Curt Walters during the 2016 Plein Air Legacy Event at Tlaquepaque. He is also the recipient of an independent artist’s grant from the City of Sedona. His work has been featured in the book How Did You Paint That? 100 Ways to Paint People & Figures published by International Artist Publishing.
