Gary Jenkins
Gary Jenkins was born in Brooklyn, New York in 1937. He graduated from the well-known four-year Ringling School of Art in Sarasota, Florida. Upon graduation, he immediately moved to Southern California. Gary started his life as a fulltime artist: first working as a key line artist for a large greeting card company; then working for fifteen years for the national art store chain, Aaron Bros. During this time, he began working on his signature style of floral painting. Over sixty of his paintings were produced into print and sold to art galleries across the nation. While working for Aaron Bros., Gary began teaching art classes up and down the West Coast of the United States.
In 1983 the opportunity came for Gary to host his weekly, National P.B.S. Television Art Show Series. He was the second artist to ever have his own television art show. In the last thirty plus years Gary has produced over four-hundred and fifty, half-hour TV shows. The last ten years of which, his televised shows also aired in nine European countries. In addition, Gary, along with his artist wife, Kathwren, team-taught weeklong seminars in over thirty U.S. states per year for over fifteen years, and, for the last nine years, Gary has also taught seminars in Germany. Furthermore, he has owned his own art gallery and painted for fine art galleries in Carmel, Laguna Beach, and La Jolla, California.
Gary’s life of art and work have been printed in North Light Books, American Artist, and Art Digest. His work has sold to collectors all over the world. With over fifty years of painting experience, Gary has no plans to slow down. “Oil painting and sharing my passion for art with everyone around the world is a dream come true.” –Gary Jenkins
