“The Majestic” Storyline
The eagle holds a special place for Alvin in his experience with this world and the spirit world. The Navajos prescribe sacred meanings to all animals. The eagle is highly revered and respected. In this sculpture, the eagle is protecting territory and answering the prayers of the land. In the eye of the eagle is the face of the artist as he has experienced visions with wonderment of being inside the eagle and flying high above the land at night.

Alvin Marshall is an award-winning Navajo sculptor who works chiefly with stone, often sculpting outside amid the elements. He studied under renowned Navajo artist Oreland Joe in the 1980’s and later spent time in Italy to gain insight into Italian sculpture and art history. Each of his figurative and animal pieces is unique, one-of-a-kind and often tells a story deeply rooted in Navajo culture and Marshall’s own experiences.
